I hope you all had a Happy Easter! We sure did. It was a whirlwind of family, friends, glorious Spring weather, and crafty activity!
On Friday night, I got to run out to The Poisoned Pen bookstore to hear one of my very favorite authors, Lisa Scottoline, talk about her newest release, Save Me. She stayed to sign books, and the nice lady standing behind me in line snapped a photo of us:
You can see how happy I was to have met her - she is so warm, friendly, and down-to-earth. Such a delight!
Once I got home, and after all kids were in bed, I started to make a few scrappy things for the Easter table.
While the younger kids got the ubiquitous Easter basket, we didn't want to leave the older kids out of the fun. So I made these cards:
Inside of each, I added a little pocket for a gift card:
Now this next photo has a moderately funny story behind it. How many of you have done this? You cook something special for the holiday menu, or - like in this case - you craft something to add a touch of color... and then you forget to put it out?
Here are the never-used place cards that I made:
We ended up eating buffet-style outside, because it was so cool and pretty, so I never set a formal table... and hence forgot the place cards! Oh well :o)
But I didn't forget these cute little carrot bundles of cutlery:
When I saw the instructions for them at Our Best Bites, I knew I had to make them!
Ingredients:
Cardstock: Bazzill
Patterned Paper: We R Memory Keepers and My Little Shoebox
Ribbon: DeNami Design
Ink: Memento, ColorBox Fluid Chalk Cat's Eye, Copic Markers, and Sakura metallic gel pens in a variety of colors
Stamps: DeNami Design and We R Memory Keepers
Glitter: Stickles
Well that's it for now. I may be back later to post a series of photos detailing how difficult (but fun) it can be trying to get a portrait of six kids... and one intrusive little pug.
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog, and have a marvelous Monday!

Hello from class! How fun to meet an author you enjoy! And really adorable cards!
Love the placecards and the carrots are adorable! What a great idea! We ate out this year because we took my aunt who is in an Assisted Living to Cracker Barrel because it's close, but I will have to remember this next year!
Scrapchick, good to meet you too! Thanks for stopping by and for your sweet comments! :o)
Tammy, thanks for making me tear up in a good way - your family's choice to take your aunt to a restaurant that is easy for her to get to is more special and meaningful than a zillion pretty decorations :o) Your comment really touched me, because that is what holidays are all about.
